'Pyramid 265' was an exhibition of work made the pupils of St Laurence School, Ramsgate. In conjunction with 'Creative Partnerships Kent' each pupil at the junior school had the opportunity to construct a food pyramid based on healthy eating. Digital imaging was explored by the pupils alongside more traditional techniques such as drawing, painting, collage and 3D construction in card, wire and acetate.
The installation of potentially 265 pyramids was displayed at the 'Outfitters Gallery' Margate, alongside digitally produced 'pyramid' prints created by the children using the 'Adobe Photoshop' programme.
This exhibition was part of the 'Plagues' project, which involved 20 schools from Thanet. The projects are in association with the Penny Woolcock 'EXODUS' film being made in Margate during September 2006.
Each school and associated artist had interpretted the word 'plague' as either the biblical plagues or as a modern plague. The theme for St Laurence was the plague of over processed foods and unhealthy eating. The significance of the number 265 was also investigated with information from the World Health Organisation's facts on healthy eating and children's diet.
